    Question Display Order by Elevation/Geometry

    Hi,

Is there an easy way to display entities (in this case, polylines) by elevation without having to individually select and 'bring above' or 'send under' object? I'm digitising some complex archaeological sites and it would be a tremendous boon to be able to view in plan the correct stratigraphy, rather than in the order the entities were digitised.

    Using Map 2004

    Many Thanks

2004 ? There should be the display manger tab on the map explorer that lets you control what and how objects are displayed. Do the polylines have ant object data or data base links to them that have the elevations to them?

Hi J and thanks for the quick reply,

Though there is object data attached, it is the geometry elevation that I'd like to use; I'm using 2D polylines in a 3D environment to best display the stratigraphy of the archaeology.

It may just be me being a bit thick, but I can't seem to find any Display Manager tab...

If the polylines are at the correct evelations (Z coordinate) then the view should show them correct. I can't recall if the Display manager was in 2004, 2005 it is. It may not be a tab but on the map explorer task pane, as a pulldown. If you need to move the polylines to their z eleations then a map alter-property query will do that. Here's an posting of things you can do to get the 3D in Map. This was done in a current version but is all old school from the first releases of Map. http://map3d.wordpress.com/2009/08/1...back-in-map3d/
