I would like to know if somebody can help me with the XY Parameter since I'm having some difficulties on using this application. I would need someone to explain me technically how it works. Thanks.
Best Regards.

have you already gone through some tutorials on how to make DB's? XY's would be considered advanced in my book, and should be backed up with thourough experience in the other types of DBs

Well i know how to make very complex DB, but i really dont understand how the XY Parameter works jajajajajajaja and this is why?? y dont know if i put a stretch action in a rectang what corner to take in the crossing window becouse if i take only one corner when a move with one grip, the rectang do some weird movements.
Ok i hope you can help me, thank you very much
Bye
just checking.
as for the actions associated with an XY parameter, select one, open properties, then look under the 'overrides' section. In the "Distance Type" field, there are 3 choices available (with the sTretch, for example): XY distance, Y distance, & X distance. The default is XY distance. If you want the top of your rectangle to only go up & down, you change it to 'Y distance' (and you have to only have the stretch area around that side). Likewise, if you want a vertical side to only go left & right, then you change the action for those lines to 'X distance' override.
It's similar to distance multipliers and angle offset over-rides, just an additional feature when dealing with XY parameters.
How's that?

Hi Chris.N
Thanks for reply....
Well i think you are very clear with this, but i have this question, when i put the parameter and then i select a stretch action then he prompt me this :"..Specify parameter point to associate with action or enter [Base point/Second
point/Xcorner/Ycorner] <Ycorner>:" So i dont know what point to take; later he makes me this promt :"...Specify first corner of stretch frame or [CPolygon]:" if i have a rectang i dont know in wish corner make the crossing, if the parameter have an X and Y i think i have to make the crossing in the side corner and the upper corner. So i have to put two actions i hope you can understand me and help me plz... if you have a example that you can send me to understand this well.
I will appreciated thank you very much
Bye!
do you normally use the parameter/action sets when you build your DBs?

oh, I was asking because I can't stand them. I think they get in the way of the user understanding how DB parameter/action associations really work.
edit: ok, I looked at your block and have honestly never thought to place a stretch at each corner (node) before. You just taught me how the XY parameter CAN work! Check out what you can do when you add a BASEPOINT parameter and change the XY parameter to only show 2 grips (select parameter and change visible grips in properties dialog box)

Look at this web site: http://a-cad-emia.blogspot.com/2011/...ametro-xy.html
hi there,
I didn't understand how this block maintains its geometry as a rectangle eventhough there aren't any visible constraints around??? is it smth. special with the xy parameter or what?
