Default Solid lines print as dotted lines

First, I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I've searched all over and I can't seem to find any posts similar. I am trying to show depth in a building elevation by using colors 251 thru 254. When I print/plot the elevation, the lines from those colors appear to be tiny dots in lieu of a solid line. I have not modified any setting in the plot style editor, they are the default settings. The lines are drawn as solid lines BTW. Any idea why this happens or how to correct it?

    Thanks in advance!

that's the way your plotter represents gray scales. Look into 'dithering' options for your hardcopy printer.

Yep, if your plotter can handle it, try to set it to Error Diffusion. The Clustered Dithering is usually very bad with gray lines. But even then, I'd advise not using thin lineweights for the gray lines, we generally don't go below 0.25mm pen on anything but black.

The HP LaserJet 5200 had 5000 series driver, so I tried using the 5000 PS driver recommended on other posts. The grey lines plotted fine, but the sheet got cut off. Tried updating the drivers to the 5100 drivers (PCL 6 and PS), and then the 5200 drivers (PCL 6 and PS). Both the later attempts failed to get the sheets plotted properly w/o the dotted appearance with the greyscale lines. I'm going to continue trouble shooting but any more pointers would be appreciated.
