    Default Tapered Beam Mesh

Whenever I try to create a FE model for a shell that is supported by a variable height beam (for instance a cantilever) the model generation changes the height of the beam in a non-linear way in accordance to the FE size of the shell.
For example: for a beam with a starting height of 80 cm and a height at the end of 40 cm, for a given length of 5 meters, if the 1st meter mesh is more dense than the rest, then the height of the beam goes from 80 to 70 cm in this first meter, and from 70 to 40 cm in the rest 4 meters.
I tried to use standard size meshing but I need to use finer meshing at supports so this problem comes up...
    Any way around it?
    Thank you

I am not sure how you verify the height of the beam along the bar with tappered section.
    Can you attach a snapshot?

From the 3d model.... Unless it is simply a visual issue and does not represent the analysis model... though i doubt it... Is there a way to check this out?
