    Default Type Selector

    Hi Guys,
I loaded a structural Family (A Timber Column) and a "Type Selector" Popped up giving me a choice to select.
Is there any documentation out there which goes about how to create such Families which uses type selectors like these?

    Thanks

What you call a type selector is called a Catalog. There is enough information about creating catalogs in the help documentation inside Revit.

In a few words, is a .txt file, named as per the family, which includes all the different types available. The main reason behind the need for catalogs is performance. It keeps the family file small, and it allows you to load only the type(s) you need, among a long list. The rule of thumb is that if a family is going to have more than five types, you should make a catalog, instead.
