Default Text Animation dilemma - Maya 2009

    Hey Guys:

Trying to create a text animation a la CNN, in which the unformed text begins as one small block then “grows” in one direction, extending, curving, etc, to create the first letter in the word, and then on to the next letter…

Or in other words, imagine the letter “S” starting as a tiny piece at the bottom and then it grows and snakes its way to the top completing the letter.

Any tips on how to best achieve this?

    Thanks,

    David

You might try modeling the entire fiished scene, then reverse-animate the hulls for each letter, from the *fully grown* state, to its *micro* state. Make sense?

I doubt you'd need to add a rig for this... it really depends on just how complex you need the animation to be.

You could use set driven keys to begin the animation for the next letter once the first sequence has completed, otherwise sync it up in the timeline.

    Hope this helps!
