    Default Dimension Radius Length

Hello, this Is my first post and i have what i think is a simple question. I am using acad LT 2004, And would like to dimension the exact length of a radius, without using LIST. We do alot of wall panel Drawings and this would be very usefull info for our shop. Thanx for any input.

Lets see if I understand what your asking. Are you using list to get the radius, then using text to show the measurement?

If so, have you used the dimension commands? There is the DIMRADIUS command that will dimension a radius. You can also use DIMSTYLE to change how the dimension will look. Setting the precision, prefix, suffix & formate.

If this is not what your asking, please clarify your question. So hopefully I can get a better understanding.

gpope, What im trying to do is get the exact length of a arc so that i can give a cut length on a radius wall panel. The way i go about it now is to list the arc and it will give me the actual length Then I text in the measurement. Thanx for the help

If you go into the dimstyle dialog. Select New. In the Create New Dimension Style dialog, go down to "Use for" and select Radius dimensions. There you can tell it to suppress the dim lines and select none for the arrowhead. Now when you select a radius to dimension, you only get the text.

Hopefully that make sense. If not just ask.

Matt is asking a more complex question then it would seem. The radius dimension isn't the issue at all. If you were to draw a full circle - the circumference would be the total size of the completed arc. If you were to quarter that circle - and then again want a dimension of the surface area of the arc, it would be 1/4 of the circumference. What Matt is asking is how can you pull a dimension on a circumference or more specifically an arc's surface. Using the LIST command will give you the measurement, but there is no way, in our knowledge, to actually snap that dimension. Hopefully this clears up any confusion. Thoughts?

To be a little more specific, he's looking for a automatic way to dimension the arc-length: the linear distance along the curve. There ain't none, at least not in LT or even generic ACAD. I'm sure there's a LISP or VBA program that will help.
