Default Sorting named model views in view manager

    Hi all

Is it possible to arrange the named views I have created in view manager? It doesn't seem so?

There are no move up/move down buttons to press, you can't drag them, right mouse click, shift click or anything like that.

I know it seems quite trivial, but only being arranged alphabetically and numerically is annoying for me as my views are according to ship deck levels and some of these are 01, 02 etc so they are out of sync with the 1 and 2 type denotations.

I am using 2010 so not sure if this is now available in 2011?

Might add it to the wish list if it isn't.

What were you using before? Both my 2008 and 2011 have no capability of sorting named views manually.

Cheers for the reply, I have never been able to do it, tbh I've only really just started using the named views functionality.

If, as your screen shots suggest, 2011 doesn't have any functions for reodering the views then I will head on over to the wish list and make my suggestion.

The list will be sorted alpha-numerically. But unfortunately, that means it will not sort using numbers (in the usual sense). I think you've already found out, to have it sorted correctly you need to rename each view such that the number portion uses the same amount of digits (padding with zeros where necessary). E.g. Say I've got View1, View2, .... View10 ... View20. The list will sort:
    Code:
    View1
    View10
    View2
    View20
    View3
    ...
    View9
But if I renumber to include zeros before those numbers with less digits, e.g. View01, View02 ....
    Code:
    View01
    View02
    ...
    View09
    View10
    ...
    View19
    View20
It might be nice to have the manual sorting. I'd probably vote for your wish. I'd actually like to see the categories as separate branches under the tree-view on the left. That way you can much more easily organize a great number of views.

BTW, are you using named views because of sheet sets? Or simply as a quick way to zoom, pan, rotate view, setup camera, change layers, UCS, etc?

I am using them for the quick panning, zooming functionality, I have only just started using the sheet set manager as well so I haven't delved into using named views for that reason yet.

My need to change the order goes a bit further really.

The ship decks above the main deck of the ship need to be sorted high to low, then the decks below the main deck need to be low to high, ie
    05,04,03,02,01,1,2,3,4,5

So unless I name them with an alphabetical prefix to order them how I want I have no chance lol.

    I feel your pain!

As a side note, I'd highly advise you to combine Model Views into your Sheet Set. Makes numbering & sheet number coordination on call-out tags a breeze! The whole thing becomes a simple drag-n-drop exercise.
