Vault opens maximised and will not restore down

I'm a new Vault user, and self-trained. I can't seem to find the answer to this ANYWHERE, so I'm asking here.

I launch Vault 2010 from a desktop icon, and it opens up in a maximised window. When I hit the "restore down" icon, the window disappears (it seems to drop off the left side, but may just be my display). I still have the vault icon in the task bar, and clicking on it only causes a blur to run from the bottom of the screen and back up to the left, like the window is actually opening up to an area off the side of the monitor. The only way I can get the display window back is by right clicking on the task bar icon and selecting "Maximize".

I have a problem with dialogue boxes for Vault falling behind this maximized window and me not being able to acknowledge them. I can't alt-tab, I can't see them in task manager, and I can't find them by minimising the window (they disappear too).

Has anyone experienced anything like this? It's really getting my goat, and I would love a solution.

I just wasn't patient enough with the move thing, it was WAAAAY off the screen.
