    Question Thickened Slab

    Hello-

I am still learning Revit and making families and I have made this thickened slab family and was hoping I could get some help with it please?

I have it made as an 18" wide thickened slab. When I put in it my projects it shows the top line instead of the bottom so it appears wider than it is supposed to be. Is there a way I can get this to show correctly? Have I made my family correctly? In autocad we always made it look like 2 hidden lines that were 18" apart.

    thanks for your help.

you could make the actual geometry not visible in plan/rcp views...and use symbolic lines Hidden Projection for what you want to show.

    Thank you for your reply-

Forgive me - but how exactly do I do that?

in family editor -click on geometry(extrusion). visibility setting(also under element properties). uncheck plan/rcp(can also set the detail level you want it viewable in)
.then select model lines or symbolic lines(can also set viz settings for these)...probably symbolic because you only want it visible in plan. lock the lines to what you want to see as hidden.

we would typically just use a continuous footing family(or inplace sweep) for this because we have a standard detail that covers it. but good luck.
line based family might be more useful...but thats up to you
