Default Missing Xref Manager - AutoCAD 2010

My Xref Manager is missing, and I can't find it anywhere. When I click on the Xref button toggle the command line indicates that the xref manager is opening and closing, but it doesn't appear on the screen. It's name doesn't appear on any of the docked palettes. I've tried using alternative workspaces, hoping that the location of a xref-manager might be reset in alternate workspaces, without success. I've even tried placing a secondary monitor around the screen to see if it is just out of view. No good.

In the old days (can 2006 really count as old days?), when the Xref palette was a dialog box, I could use Alt+Space then Move to bring the window into view. No such luck today.

I can use the old version (CLASSICXREF), which is OK as a work around, but I'd REALLY like to know what's going on and fix it. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Perhaps try opening the CUI editor, then with your current workspace selected in the left pane, click on the + next to Palettes in the right pane. Then select the External References palette, and make sure it is set to show, also set any other properties that are relevant. Perhaps that will allow it to appear.

That did it! I've attached an image of where I went to make the adjustment, in case anybody else runs into the same issue.

I suspected it was something like that, but I couldn't seem to find it in the help files or online.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

    Hi Guys,

Can anyone please help with this same issue in CAD 2011?

I am not very familiar with the CUI interface and now it also appears there are no palettes available for me to select from?

    Thanks in advance!

the 2011 cui is almost identical to 2010, 2012 is as well. The instructions I gave above were using 2011 so they should work for you as well. Can you post a screen shot of your CUI dialog?

Matt, thanx for posting the image! that was what we needed for our 2014 install! one additional tip, we had to select "floating" under the "allow docking" option, otherwise it stayed missing. (ps. hope you're doing well!)

Thank you so much. This was driving me nuts. I appreciate it so much when people go out of their way to post solutions to problems they have faced and help others in the process. I always try to do the same myself.
