    Default Autodesk 2010 Slows Machine

After installing Autodesk 2010, our office computers seem to lag about 5 seconds when opening a Windows XP browser window. For instance, if you try to open "My Documents" the folder will lag (~5 sec) while trying to open. Explorer, Office suite, AutoCAD, etc... all open just fine, its just the browser windows.

Does anyone know what causes this or how it can be fixed?

Are there dwg files in the folder you're looking in?

...and If Melanie's suggestion is not it... try looking for any sort of "dead" shortcuts - meaning anything that is pointed to something that isn't there any more - like non-existent network locations in "NetHood", or mapped to drive letters, or non-existent printers, shortcuts to non-existent locations, etc.

Windows is notorious for seaching for things that aren't there way too long...

Another test.... disconnect all network connections (i.e.: unplug the NIC, and disable all WiFi)... and test again.. if the speed improves, I would say Windows is looking for something it can't find via a network connection, or it's finding it, but just very slowly...
