    Default Curved wall rendering issues

    All,

I am rendering a curved wall and I get the vertical stripes shown in the image attached. I have tried moving the camera to different locations with no luck.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

    hi Clyne-

    1. MentalRay rendering is all about precision illumination..
(that's what makes it look real)..

1a. see the image attached and slide that illumination precision
all the way up to 10.. (good foundation)..

    2. all the other sliders as low as they will go until you learn those
nice little touches they can put on a rendering- EXCEPT the top one-
(antialiasing).. that's what straightens out the lines- and if it's just
wall edges and not like brick images- then 7 is a good basic position..
(10 will take forever to render)..

    3. leave the default "screen" resolution until you learn about print paper
sizes or image shrinking- and hit the render button..

    4. AFTER the rendering is done- open "adjust exposure" on the main
render dialog.. and THAT is where you will have your work cut out for
you.. play with those exposure settings for hours until you begin to
realize what they do to the image you just rendered..

BTW- those "vertical stripes" have nothing to do with
rendering.. it's either split faces or there's been pick
walls put on imported lines or who knows what you did-
but it's not about the rendering.. try to do some join
geometry or something.. and if it's in-place stuff-
check the materials and what belongs to what..

    Thanks for the replies.

Tried adjusting the rendering options you suggested to no avail...same result.

This wall is not split vertically or horizontally and I did not use any other method than the standard create wall tool to generate these curved walls. They are single continuous walls which I have created many times with no rendering issues. Hence my puzzlement....

    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks!
