Default Big Differences in Performance - Revit 2011

I've recently noticed something with my 2011 installs that is particularly troubling. Revit MEP and Revit Structure are about 10 times slower (in terms of program response time) than Revit Architecture. I have 2011 installed with WU2 on all three versions, and I require all three versions to do my job.

Its been so bad lately that I have actually been doing all of the work that I possibly can in RAC just due to the response time. My computer is running Win7x64 with 8 gb of RAM. I have an Nvidia card with the correct driver for 64-bit Revit. Revit licenses are pulled from a server, but there seems to be no difference in the slowdown between plugging in at the office or connecting thru VPN.

The difference is staggering. In RMEP, just clicking the application menu to open a file takes minutes. Loading families? forget it. I open the family first and then load it into the project.

Not sure what is going on here, but RAC screams and the others are struggling just to make out out of the startup screen.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Mr Ninja,
Have you tried uninstalling RAC to see if its installation is effecting the others?

Any further advise you need please feel free to ask

Actually, the culprit was network locations. The configuration file in RST and RME contained paths to servers that were located in other states (I am on the road about 50% of the time) and I had only used RAC in my home office.

Apparently Revit pings all these locations each time you open/load a file. I've also had to remove all of my network printers that were not in the local office. Still a little slow, but much better.

hmmm yes... remote servers can be a nuisance.
Slightly off topic but i wonder if you can help...
I am having lots of problems importing dxf to etabs. Is there a best practice you could advise?
    Cheers
