ok, this may sound silly, but when I'm creating a template for roadway cross sections, does the OSNAP toggle have something to do with why my template looks totally wrong????? I'm using 2004, BTW..........

Looks wrong in what way?

Might look different than you would expect because it is displayed with the vertical scale facter that is set for profiles/cross sections/etc.

Could also be the 'direction' in which you are drawing the template. The template that you start with, is typically the left side.

no, I realize the difference in scales........um, let me see........
ok, I gave the road a negative slope, starting from the crown, that looked fine-
I tried to do the curb, zero offset, zero slope, & instead of going straight up, it went waaaaaaaaay off to the right hand side of my screen at some angle......... I did use all my negatives & positives, so I couldn't figure out why it went off that way!
follow that?????

Your BEST practice is to draw the template with regular cad commands @ 1:1
turn it into a block, and insert it @ x=1 , and y=10
then use the Draw Template command with OSNAP to END and INTersection
and trace over it. Be sure to edit it to include your transition regions and control points.

Also please NOTE that typicaly we think of the face of curb as being straight up,
however they are actualy built with some measurable batter to them, and most
IMPORTANT if you do build them as vertical faces this could present a challenge to
getting surface volumes,

yes, LDD will turn on the osnap when you begin drawing the template. and if you do not turn it off it will snap to an endpoint even if the cross hairs are no where near it. so simply turn off the osnap after you draw the first point.

that's just plain silly! I messed with that for almost an hour, & just out of curiosity, turned off my osnap & it worked just fine! sheesh! talk about frustration.....maybe that can be changed somehow in a new version.........just a thought.
