Default recovering backups from a workgroup file

Are there incremental backups made of a user's local file when they're working from a workgroup central file? I see that there is a folder made on the desktop with the local .rvt file named "<project>_backup" that contains .dat and .rws files but I don't know how to access them. I've tried going to Collaborate>Restore Backup, but that command seems to ask for a folder that contains backup info and I'm not sure where that's supposed to be.

    Thanks,
    James

All you need to do is use the Restore Backup tool and point to that _backup folder

I do that and nothing appears as if none of the files are of the file type that Revit expects.

When you use the restore feature it throws you into the backup folder. You need to go up one level, select the backup folder and select Open. You should now see a list of backups with time and date stamps.

Another thought regarding the restore: When you restore, it is usually best to do a save as. If you restore the current file to a previous date/ time, you cannot undo it and you will remove any progress you made up to the restore date. If you do a save as when you restore, you are saving another file and it will not delete the progress of the backup log.
    Hope that made sense.

Awesome! glad you figured that out. Ridiculous you need to jump back a directory and then manually pick the folder that Revit created automatically itself.

    Thanks

This is honestly the single most retarded thing on the planet. The programmers at Autodesk should be taken out behind the woodshed for this godawful implementation. Shame on them.
