    Default Visibility

I want to load a created family into a project so that my family is only visible in the 3d view and a 2d image is still visible in plan view. I know it is possible but, how?

    Default Re: Visibility

you have to adjust the visibility settings for the different objects in your family, see attached image. select only the 3d geometry in your family and just turn off visibility in the "Plan/RCP" views (and Back/Front, Left/Right if needed).

For displaying 2d lines only you'll have to play w/ the detail level of the items. I typically turn off visibility of my 3d geometry for "Coarse" and "Medium" but leave checked for "Fine" and turn off visibility of my 2d lines on "Fine" but leave checked for "Coarse" and "Medium" detail levels. Then set the corresponding detail level for your views in the model.

    hope that helps

looks like I'm now "Ravis.Swargam" - Not sure I can live up to such a strong name.
