Default can swept blend path have more than one segment?

I'm trying to draw a fancy scroll corbel that has a larger profile at the bottom than the top. A swept blend seems like the perfect tool, but the "S" shape path results in an error, "More than one curve not allowed." I even tried to draw a path with two lines at an obtuse angle to each other, but received the same error.

I find this really hard to believe- is this implying that swept blends can only exist with a path that's a single segment? Is there a workaround, because this seems incredibly limited.

    thanks,
    James

You can create the path as separate lines in the same family and then create a new swept blend for each new segment. Use the pick lines option to select the edges of the ending profile of one segment as the starting profile of the next segment.
You're right, that is a limitation that should be addressed, but the workaround is not too onerous once you get into it.

I think I understand your method, but the path I'm working on is an "S" shape, more or less, that contains no less than 5 arcs. That'd be six profiles, if I'm thinking about it right. Since the profiles are complex and are supposed to form a smooth transition along the entire length of the path this seems like a very tedious process. If the profiles were simple rectangles that'd be pretty simple to fake, but they're not.

I did discover, however, that using a SPLINE instead of a series of arcs will work just fine, much to my surprise. Pretty much the first time I found the spline tool to work properly in Revit.

True about the spline. The only limitation there is it still needs to be in a single plane and you'll need to be sure to avoid self-intersecting geometry.
Also keep in mind that splines are great if you're 'just' modeling. If you need to document dimensionally splines are always a PITA.
Be sure to post a view of the result when you're done.
