Question Autocad2011MEP export to Autocad2011 Crash Issues

    Hello,

I am having a problem exporting a file from AutocadMEP2011 to Autocad2011. I have tried it on 3 different computers here in our office with the same results. AutocadMEP will export to Autocad but when I open the exported file it crashes Autocad within a few seconds after opening. Very frustrating as we export to Autocad to pass files on to be linked into Revit.

    Please help.

The file itself might be corrupt. Have you tried testing another file altogether by exporting from a fresh template? If you need import into Revit, but maintain the 3D massing of objects, you could also try exporting to IFC format as well, just to give you a quick fix for now.

My first question is why dumb down the drawing to 2D if it is ultimately going into Revit? Like stykface said, try using IFC exports instead. However, in regards to the root of the problem, have you tried AUDIT on the file? Are there any Xrefs attached? If so, try RECOVERALL instead. Another question, where are you doing the Export to AutoCAD? From within MEP in the single file? You might try using the DWG Convert tool in DWG TrueView, or even eTransmit in AutoCAD MEP. Either one will allow you to choose an AUDIT from within the Transmittal setup, somewhat automating the process for you. Just make sure you choose Explode AEC Objects from the file format type pulldown menu.
