[2011] Ceiling grid on/off toggle

I repeatedly run into problems getting the ceiling grid to show up. Yesterday, I had forgotten to change the underlay orientation to Reflected Ceiling Plan. Now that I've fixed it, I shouldn't run into this problem again.

But still, why was it so difficult in the first place? I've had problems before with VG settings, Link VG settings, discipline settings, and every single time I missed one of the 20 specific items that must be exact to get the ceiling grid to show up.

I don't need or want a real RCP. What I need is a Mechanical Plan with ceiling grid. RME cannot provide this type of view, so I have to use a Reflected Ceiling Plan for my purposes: just a ceiling grid that I can align my diffusers to, and easily identify whether that room has a lay-in ceiling or not. I want to manipulate and position my diffusers and ductwork in the same view. I don't want to mess with the view range in the RCP, or have it tell me that

Error: View depth plane is set BELOW the top clip plane.

Any way to allow ceilings to display on all views; by check box, or a button right next to Thin Lines would be very useful. (especially to the novice that is already struggling with the Revit learning curve)

I agree. Something like "Show Ceiling Grid Projection" button would be nice.

I was about to ask for colour scheme support on RCP plans, but I'd rather have your suggestion instead, e.g. add ceilings to plans that already support color schemes, as there are numerous other benefits such as view direction.

Yes this is definitely needed. Someway of having a normal plan view with the cut plane through the doors but still having the ceiling grid shown. I currenlty get around this by having 2 views( plan and ceiling) and bringing them both onto a sheet, then activating the plan view so i can coordinate with the grid. but its awkward.

Maybe an option/check box in the view range settings to show ceilings.

Sort of like having underlay orientation RCP option by category (or just for the ceiling category) in a view where everything else is normal.

Some how we need an option that shows

• mechanical duct/diffusers/units from slab to slab ( bottom limit associated floor (top limit Floor above)
• funiture layouts, doors etc like a normal plan ( so cut plan approx 1200)
• a ghosted ceiling plan to coordinate diffusers
• all on the same view
