Reporting Parameters & windows

I'm trying to create a new window and wanted to explore the reporting parameters functionality. I'm finding that the only thing that I can get the reporting parameter to report mostly correct is the overall host wall thickness. I can't seem to report an individual layer or combination of layers (i.e. core layers) reliably. Has anyone else been down this road that can shed a bit of light on this. I was wanting to schedule jamb depth of the window in the wall without having the user make some edits in the family properties to tell revit what is what.

Just tried this out and it seems to work fairly reliably. I think it will only work if you are referencing the named locations in the wall. e.g. Core faces, finished faces, etc.
It seems the family definition needs to include geometry for the exterior and interior finishes and a couple of ref planes aligned to those location lines to be sure it reports correctly.

Yeah, I think I narrowed it down to 3 layers that can be reliably reported too... after much trial and error. It's stuff like this I wish were in the help files. Thanks for looking and confirming my suspicion.
