Default Revit Server local file location

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the location of the local file created when using the Revit Server? I have not been able to find out anything about this in the documentation. I would like to have the local files saved on our server rather than the workstations hard drives. We would like to keep all the work stations free of project information.

Generally speaking the best practice is have local files on local workstation harddrives unless you are in some type of situation where you are using virtual computers that are using a shared SAN or are otherwise very "close" to the network resources. Autodesk recommends that local files be on the local harddrive. Creating locals on a network resource introduces the LAN into the user's workstation's ability to interact with the local file and will likely result in poorer performance for the end user then if the Local file were in fact "local". The "Create Local" feature of Revit is not unique to Revit Server and it uses the "Default Path For User files:" location setting in the the options to determine where the Local file is saved.

Creating Local defaults to your My Documents folder. You can change the location of your My Documents folder manually. In Windows File Explorer, right-click on you My Documents folder > Properties. On the Location tab, you can change the default location.

In our firm we have an AD policy to remap the user's My Document folder to the d:\ drive.

Just change the "Default path for user files" location in the Revit Settings. I change mine to C:\Revit Projects and all my local files go in there automatically.
