Default Replacing windows with with new windows of the same size

Ok, we've ran into a bit of a workflow (I think) issue with Revit 2010.

We've got a renovation project. Some existing windows are being replaced with new windows and the new ones are the same size as the previous.

So, as I remember it (as I'm typing this from home).

    1. There's a 5'x8' window in an existing wall.
    2. The window is demolished in the demo phase.
2a. Revit then creates a wall infill in place of the removed window.
    3. We try to install a 5'x8' window but can't as the infill is the same size as the infill. The infill is a separate wall segment and with the window being the same size there is then no wall left for hosting the window.

The work around we've done is to install the window as close as possible and have it nudged over just a bit so it's replacing 99.5% (or so) of the infill and a sliver of the original wall.

Is this a problem with Revit that others are seeing or are we just looking at this issue incorrectly?

    Thanks.

Yeah, the infill thing is pretty messed up....(think this was a wishlist item)

What I do is cutout the wall where the window will be demo'd...then I demo the wall, not the window...thus no infill....then you can put in a new wall and window or put a non-hosting window in its place...

I have also run into this, and I have been able to get it to work by placing the new window so that it cuts both the existing wall and the infill wall, and then moving it over into the correct location. Sometimes I also have to do various join operations between the existing and infill walls, but I can usually get it to work.
