Default Do I really need a Quadro?

I am looking at purchasing new PC's for a couple of users here and doing the price comparison it is a lot cheaper to get a better GeForce card than a Quadro setup. Does anyone know if Revit and AutoCAD will run well on the newer GeForce Cards or even a Radeon?

We will be using Revit 2011 and 2012 in a 64bit environment.

Depends on what level your going to use Revit....for lots of folk a GeForce works just fine... I compared a GTX 580 and Quadro 2000 recently...okay, the 580 was probably overkill, but it was fun to play with.

Quadro FX cards? Absolutely not necessary since Revit switched from OpenGL graphics acceleration to DirectX. I know of quite a few people who report good results with GTX cards (which share some of the same components with Quadro FX cards at a fraction of the cost), and I myself have an ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB that works fine with Revit. I personally prefer nVIDIA over ATI but that's just me. I hope to switch out to a GTX card some time soon.

This 2GB GTX 560 card would probably do everything you need and more for under $300: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814261099

It does depend on what you need to do.

We run Revit on some real low-level video cards, for simple day-to-day production work and it runs fine.

What would make you want to go with a Quadro as opposed to a GeForce? For example, are there rendering engines in Revit that work on Quadros but not on GeForce?
