    Default Auto Desk Inventor 2008

    Hi All,

I'm after some Technical advice if possible, I work within the IT industry and our customer is using the AutoCAD software however there having a problem opening large models within the inventor software.

We appear to be getting an error which states

"Your Inventor session has used up more than 80% of the available process address space" (4096MB)

The machine was running Windows XP 32BIT with 4GB RAM, 3.25GB usable, we have since upgraded onto a 64BIt OS and have put an additional 4GB of RAM into the system but still appear to be getting the above error message, I understand you can edit some registry settings to that you get the error message at 90/95% of usage but i'd much perfer to figure out a way of fixing the problem without having to do that.

    Any help is appreicated.

    Thanks

    1) Ensure there is enough space in your hard disk.
    2) It depends on the type CPU and video card with your system
    3) This kind of problem is also related to
    a) the size of the file opening,
    b) the number of part files linked (if the drawing is an assembly)
    c) the number of levels of the file linked (drawing file hierarchy).

FYI, I run my Inventor 2011 on Win7 pro (64bit), intel i7 CPU, 24Gb of ram.
To run Inventor & working on a larger project, it requires a higher end machine!

What Windows OS did you put in? I seem to recall that XP x64 still could only read 4 GB even if you through 8 in the box. You might need to move to Vista or Windows7.

Also look in the Inventor bin folder in your Program files for a memprobe.exe to analyze the memory usage.

Did you also install the 64 bit version of Inventor after upgrading or did you put in a 32 bit deployment you may have had lying around?

Edit: Nevermind about the 64 bit. Inventor 2008 does not have a 64 bit installer. You are more likely running into issues with the fact your Inventor is only 32 bit and can't access the additional memory.
