As-built pipe networks

I'm curious how people are creating as-built documents of pipe networks. Are you just adding text next to the label? Adding data to the network? What's your MO?

One strategy, export the network via XML...
set the original to a no display style (IF only the new data is desired to be seen)
Edit the network name in the XML file, import and edit as required.

What I did was made a copy of the Utility Sheet from the Sheet Set, promote the pipe network and alter it as a record drawing. I would then xref the utility layers from the original plan so that original plan showed.
