I haven't used parcels in the past, but decided to use them on one project to allow easier labeling of property owners, parcel numbers, and property lines for the existing properties along my project. After a learning curve, I got everything worked out.
Recently, I received updated property lines after detailed title searches, and went in to update the parcels by grip editting the old parcels to the new lines. I've decided that it is a pain in the rear end.
I've discovered several problems in doing this, which makes a lot of extra grip editing. For example, if I move a corner grip far enough so that the label goes outside of the revised parcel, it deletes the label and all of its associated data (property owners, deed numbers, and parcel numbers) and assigns it a new parcel number. It also does the same thing if I move grips in such a way that it creates parcels where parcel segments temporarily overlap. Also, it will do the same if I have to add a curve segment into the parcel.
Is there a setting or command that forces Civil to fix the data to the parcel and will not allow it to delete the data and assign a new parcel number?
Yes, I have found a way around it by moving my grips a lot more smaller increments, but why should I have to double or triple (or more) the number of times I move a grip? I figure this would be a big thing for those who use parcels regularly.
