Default Revit to Navis - Coordinates Issue

    Hi,

We are trying to coordinate Revit models (structural and architectural) within Navisworks

Both revit models use 'shared coordinates' and overlay perfectly in Revit.

But when imported into navisworks they dont align.

It was suggested to Navis is using the project coordinates rather than shared so we adjusted the project origin in both model but still no joy in Navis.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    Stephan

Default Re: Revit to Navis - Coordinates Issue

I always use "Project Internal" when exporting out to Navisworks. Provided the Revit project is setup properly then this should always work. I am speaking from a RMEP point of view, I rarely work with the other Revit verticals. In rare occassions I have had your problem, and did my export using Shared, which in those occassions, it worked.
A couple of thoughts: the model you are writing out, did you setup the project using "Project Internal" then use the Aquire to get the Shared Coordinate? If the Project was setup using "Center to Center", then that may well be your problem.

Your one statement scares me: "...so we adjusted the project origin in both models..." If you exposed the Origin and Shared Coordinates (via the VG or "Show Hidden" status button) and then move them manually, well....I have never had 'expected results' by doing this, and do not recommend doing it.

Alternative: When you do your export to NW, check the settings and have it do the Link as well, then in the one NWC you will have both models. This may require you to build your Filters a bit different, but will keep the models aligned properly.
