Default Revit.nwc files not updating automagically

OK, so I have a TON of Autocad MEP dwg files in my models and when the .dwg's get updated, and my regeneration happens, it updates the .nwc's for those drawings.

If I have Revit .nwc files in there (Exported from Revit with Extensions for Revit) it doesn't appear they are updating when my Archies re-export them.

As a bandaid, I have my Archies shooting me an email when they re-export a .nwc file, I then open Manage, save the .nwf and then save it as a .nwd.

A little more background into my process is probably necessary here. I have batch files that run Roamer.exe for Manage, opening the most recent .nwd files, then saving them.

If Manage see's a fresh .dwg file, it appends it over the existing .dwg file and creates a new .nwc file. If the .nwc file is newer than the .dwg file, it just loads the .nwc file.

Problem here is that with Revit exports to .nwc, there's no file for Manage to compare it to. I don't think it's updating the current .nwc file in the model with the newer .nwc file that Revit just created.

Did I miss a switch somewhere? Does Manage actually keep the time and date of .nwc files in the models somewhere?

Are your architects replacing the existing .nwc files exported from revit each time? I've never seen these NOT update and I use this process consistently.

Thinking more about it...I think I have seen this problem. This is me trying to remember way back, but our issue went something like this - .NWF file filled with .NWCs exported from revit was saved as .NWD for archive purposes. When the .NWCs were updated, the .NWF file wouldn't update to reflect the latest .NWCs. It seemed like a snapshot was taken and used for the future (almost like an .NWD).

We solved this problem by using the output NWD function instead of the saveas function. No problems since then.

I have regen batch files that open the .nwf files using NW Simulate every hour, then saving them as .nwd's so my users have the latest files (at least within the last hour).

I don't know if I can switch the batch file to where it will use the NWDOut command. Something I'll have to dig into.

    Thanks for the idea.
