Properties not displaying for detail components

I am trying to insert a steel joist out of the Detail Components Manager, but cannot change any options in the properties.
The default view is section, but I would like to show elevation. I don't know what I need to do to have the properties active while I try to insert the component.

I cannot check in 2012, but in 2010, you need to have the Design tab of the Properties palette set current in order to be able to change the properties, such as the View, of a steel joist detail component.

Sorry, had the wrong tab active. See the new attached picture.
The properties are still blank.

My installation is completely standard. The only thing that I have added is Express Tools.

Anybody have any ideas?

I've attached a screen capture of the View options that a user should be seeing when selecting an element from detail manager. Read "TIP" commment.

If this does not work, run a repair on ACA program.
