    Default Circuit Display Order

I'm quite new to revit, had it for about a month now but I can't seem to find a way to display circuit references in the standard UK format when adding a wire tag 'by phase'. The phase always comes up first and then the way. I would like it the other way round, the circuit way and then the phase i.e. 2L1 instead of L12. Is this possible?

I guess not then!! Really is a pain not being able to properly customise such a simple thing such as a circuit tag.

I think the issue with the question may be one of terminology. I dont see phase as a property in my electrical objects, the phase I have relates to the project phase (existing, new construction, demo etc).

However while I am not sure of exactly the request, it sounds like a simple modification of the tag family will help.

If you have the phase followed by the way, select this tag and edit family, then select the label in the family and edit label, finally switch the order of the two parameters in the label and then reload the family back into the project. I think this should help.

    Regards

Thanks for attempting to answer my question. The 'by phase' setting is found when editing a distribution board under 'circuit naming'. The options are 'panel name', 'pre-fixed', 'standard' and 'by phase'.

I had tried editing the family before however the phase and way are tied into a parameter named 'circuits'. Unfortunately they are not interchangeable individual entities (which would have been useful).

Unless I start manually entering an annotation for each circuit, I don't see a way around it. But if I do that then they won't automatically update when editing the distribution board circuits.

Does the example attached show what you require?

Your job must be set up to handle those phases. If not, you need to set them up.

[Jimbob, need to read posts more closely, the thread is not about phasing.]

    Michael,

Have you examined the Electrical Settings dialog > General tab?

The parameter Electrical Data Style offers the following:
Connector Description Voltage / Number of Poles - Load
Connector Description Voltage / Phase - Load
Voltage / Number of Poles - Load
    Voltage / Phase - Load
The parameter Circuit Description offers the following:
    480V-3P/30A
    480-3/30
    3P30A
    3P/30A
    3/30
    3P30
Do any of these match what you have in mind?

Thanks but you have just renamed the panel L2. I need the phases to change depending on which circuit I place the wire tag on automatically. The default setting for the phase names is A, B & C. I have changed them to L1, L2 & L3 to match UK standards.

None of those settings change the way the 'circuits' wire tag is displayed.

I've attached two images to better explain. The plan shows one of my typical rooms with wire tags on the circuits. The other image shows what happens when I try to edit the wire tag label. The 'way' and 'phase' are both tied into the parameter named 'circuits'. I don't see a way of seperating them out so that I can change the order.

How are circuit references typically shown in the states? Ours in the UK would be panel ref/panel way-phase i.e. DBA/12L1.

I see what you are after, and I agree with you that it seems out of reach at this time, sorry.
