    Default Pipe fittings appear smaller than the pipes connected to it !!!!!!!!

    Hi All,

    I am having a weird problem with the pipe fittings.

    For some reason when I draw a pipe and then turn 90 degrees, it creates the 90 degrees elbow but the elbow apears smaller than the pipe (I attached a pdf showing what I mean), and it also happens with the tee fitting, I am using the standard pipes fitting from revit and I did a previous project where I didn't have that problem, but the project that I am currently working on, I wasn't the one who set it up and our office got it from another office to continue working on it, so I tried looking in the settings of the file but couldn't figure out what is the problem. This problem only happens with pipes, ducts are fine.

    Please let me know if you have an idea..

    Thanks to you all for the help.

    I would check to see if the pipe has insulation on it. I have attached a picture with the same situation. The lower one includes insulation on the fitting.

    Just pick on one of the pipes, look at the properties and see if there is a value for the insulation.

    Hi Sroy,

    Thanks for the reply, but it's not the insulation, it's some how the settings of the file or something else, so when I try to create pipe elbow pipe, the elbow comes out smaller than it actually is, all the fitting are like that. and when I try to add insulation, the insulation appears on the piping but the fittings stays unaffected.

    weird huh...

    Check that Revit is finding the correct pipe lookup tables, their location is defined in the Revit.ini file, if it cant find them then it doesnt know what sizes to use for many of the pipe fittings.

    you have the line:

    LookupTableLocation=\\Sdg-altiris-01\IT\Autodesk software\mep2010-64\Content\LookupTables

    so this indicates that it is looking for the lookup table on your server.

    Do you have access to this location listed above from your machine, check with windows explorer?

    If so then the next thing to check is which lookup table the fitting is searching for, select the small elbow and go to its type properties, you should find that a parameter Lookup Table Name has a value like M_Pipe Fitting - Generic.csv

    Take this csv file name and look for it in the folder specified above, does it exist?

    What version of Revit are you using? and have you upgraded since the last project?

    In 2011 they added an extra directory level for lookup tables. In the lookup table location there should be two sub directories "conduit" and ''pipes'' your pipe fitings lookup tables should be in "pipes", obviously.
