Default How do I maintain the zoom

Probably not the best way to put it but how once I've chosen a zoom can I stop AC from miniturising the perspective once I choose another view. ie, I zoom in so that the area I'm working on is full screen then change to say SE view. AC then reduces the area to one corner of the screen as well as changing the view. Meaning each time I have to zoom and pan again. Thanks

Use 3dorbit to "drag" to the view you want.

Delete objects that aren't in the view you want then Zoom Extents then zoom to the required view.
    Use OOPS if necessary.

Sorry John. Still cant figure that. I select the view I want which happens to be how the dwg is loaded. There is nothing else to delete. Then - zoom - zoom extents - SE view and still it shrinks to the bottom left corner??

There are invisible objects increasing the file's extents.
As a first check, go to a WCS plan view, ctrl+c all the visible objects and ctrl+v into a new, empty file.
If that doesn't fix it, pick a side plan view and do the same.

Depending on the acad release the invisible object(s) could be - an empty text string, a zero-length line or polyline, objects in a frozen xref, ... .

Edit - did you try 3dorbit?

Thanks again. I found with 3D orbit I couldnt position it exactly. Did the above and discovered the hidden objects as you said but could not delete them as they were on a locked layer. Tried unlocking without success so did your second option and that worked. Very many thanks.
