    Default Download Pipe Types

Has anyone been generous enough yet to publish files for download yet that have common Pipe Types already defined, like ProPress, Cast Iron No Hub, PVC Sanitary and Vent, etc? I've seen CADWorx Piping Productivity Pack, but it's pricey and I don't know how good it really is.

To the best of my knowledge, nobody has published such a thing.

For what it's worth, I'm willing to share my pipe types, along with some custom fittings, in the form a Revit 2012 template file.

    Contains:

Generic - OTB generic pipe type; OTB fittings
    Black Iron - Schedule 40; classes 150 & 300; OTB fittings
Copper - Type L; brazed & soldered; custom copper fittings
PVC - Schedule 40 DWV; OTB fittings
Steel - Schedule 40; buttweld & victaulic; custom buttweld fittings
Lookup Tables to support the above fittings (except for OTB fittings)

The buttweld and copper fittings I made myself, the Victaulic was downloaded from the manufacturer, the rest is OTB. I'm still working on No-Hub. What I have works....mostly, but it's not ready to be released into the wild. The rest of them work well as far as I can tell, any feedback would be welcome.

Thank you! This is just what I was looking for. I will try using it and let you know if I see anything unusual. One question I do have is on your PVC DWV, do you manually replace the tees with wyes when drawing sanitary, or do you just leave the tees in? I am considering copying that type and making another one that uses a wye instead of a tee.

Yeah, drainage piping is unique in that it uses a number of different branches (tees, wyes, combos), but you can only set one as the default in the pipe type.

Creating a new pipe type is one solution. Here's a catch though....wye fittings are classified as "wyes" and not "tees", and "wye" isn't an available category in the pipe type. The t-wyes are classified as a tee, so those should work in a pipe type. In short, sanitary tees and t-wyes are interchangeable through the type selector, and wyes are a different part type altogether.

I've grown accustom to manually placing wyes and letting the pipe type insert tees for me.

Look into Sysque for Revit. They have an amazing tool. And hundreds of thousands of families.

Sysque is nice if you have a small fortune you don't need. Might not be the most econimical for most users.
