    Default publishing is very slow

Every time I try to publish, the process is miserably slow. What could possibly cause the publish command to operate so slowly? Would linked excel files cause this? Or could the xref's have something to do with it? Any help would be awesome because as of right now I can't use the publish command effectively.

XLS(x) files can cause slow publishes. XRefs may also add to this. But I've found that the major culprit would be "un-clean" drawings. Try running an audit + purge all + purge regapps on all the drawings.

I found that the "Page Set-up Overrides" in the sheet set manager allow me to print much faster. Thanks for your help.

Turn publish in background off, always slower for some reason.
