Default Solar Study, the sun shines through

Hi all, we've been banging our heads against the wall on this one.
Attached is an image from a solar study preview. You can see the sun is shining right through the roof onto the floor.

    We can't make this stop.
It's like a hotspot of the sun, because the roof still casts shadows.
We've tried everything we can think of, from remodeling the roof, to replacing the roof with a floor, different materials in case things are transparent, deleting entities in case it's a reflection to our final, ultimate test which is where the attached image is coming from.

The final ultimate test was to link the file into a new project made from the default revit template. The linked file was used to acquire shared coordinates and I added a roof and walls around the linked model. In fact, in the image attached, the entire structure is surrounded by walls and a roof and still the sun hotspot shows.

    Any ideas?
