Revit Import into Navisworks

I have noticed that when I import a Revit 2013 model into Navisworks 2013 that I am not recieving the entire model. Has anyone encountered this problem and if so were you able to fix it?

Are you able to move around in the model and it appears or is it definitely not there? If the first case is what's going on, check your clipping planes. Located under Home, File Options. If that's not the problem, we'll need more info.

Most of us are in the 2011 or 2012 versions. My company doesn't jump to the newest version as soon as it hits the streets but, rather waits for at least the first service pack to come out and then evaluates whether it will work with all the other products we use.

Its not a clipping plane issue, I have seen the issue with two seperate files. The first file, the steel beams and joists were not importing. In the second case, portions of the construction site fence were missing. If I revert back to DWFx exports from Revit all of the items come through.

Are you exporting from Revit in the nwc format?? I forget the name of the command in revit. Nwcout or something along those lines.. Maybe nwc export..

I am not exporting out the Revit File. 2013 reads Revit in its .RVT format. That is what I am using.

What are your Options/File Readers/Revit settings? Several things in the settings may help here.
1) Convert: If 'Navisworks View' is selected, then you will need a specific 3D view in the Revit project with "Navisworks" in the name -or- you can pick 'Entire Project' which grabs everything.
2) Convert linked files: Is the missing items in your NWC possibly in a link? If so, you will need to check this.
3) Convert construction parts: check this box,
4) Coordinates: I recommend 'Project Internal' by default.
5) You may want to check the boxes for converting all parameters and properties

If none of the above help, if you can, post the RVT file and I will try it out.

You have your AutoCAD brain engaged Paul, in Revit2012 it is an Add-in menu selection. New with Navisworks 2013, NW will read a RVT directly, no need for the plugin anymore.

This solved the problem. Thanks for the help. I had all the other boxes checked, I was just missing the view setting which should have been on the 'Entire Project'

I was thinking more along the lines of it being a new feature that was brought out and we KNOW how those things work.. I always forget to check on the status of the boxes. Those are things you set up the first or second time you use the software and forget about it until you upgrade a couple of years later..

I was going for the old tried and proven way, and then going to work up from there.

Then again, when you're with a company as large as I am, we don't jump to the latest version when it comes out... Let others do the final Beta tests, we'll at least wait for the first service pack.. and then we'll only jump if we can make sure we're not leaving any of our other offices too far behind in a version we can't get support for.

Ouch, gotta correct my own post. There is still a very big need for the Revit to Navisworks Exporter, and I am glad Autodesk left it in 2013. The Reader reads certain objects in Revit as Medium Detail rather than as Fine Detail. This causes me to wonder what else is being read wrong that I haven't discovered yet.
