    Default Freeze Xref layers

    Our company is using V2004 and we often use Xrefs. I am able to freeze an xref layer by just picking on an object on the layer that I want to freeze. When other users try to do this they freeze the entire xref. Does anyone have any suggestions on why this is?

    Hi

    Are you using the Express Tools command LAYFRZ to accomplish this?

    If yes, take a look at its Options (once within the command).

    If no, what command are you using?

    Have a good one, Mike

    check what layer they brought the xref in on. i insist that my users insert xrefs on layer 0. that way you have full control of the xref layers and eliminate a disappering refrence.

    good luck!

    Hi

    Personally I work the opposite way....

    Each Xref is brought in on its own dedicated Layer eg

    Frame.dwg -> Layer = Xref_Frame
    Mapping.dwg -> Layer = Xref_Mapping
    etc.

    Have a good one, Mike

    hi mike,
    as long as it works and everyone uses the same names. i had 20 users doing it 20 different ways and it eliminated all of their bickering. or at least shifted it some where else )
    now it's over 200 users in five soon six offices over three states. but the story never changes...
    sigh..... please pass the tums!
    cheers!

    Mike,

    Thank you very much. You were correct. Other users had there options set differently then I.
