Default The display of models in Navisworks needs to be clearer

Summary: Wield I understand that the display of Navisworks is tailored for speed, the display is looking very dated, particularly when compared to applications such as Revit. It's much easier to visually review models with a better display as elements are much more defined.

Even without incorporating ambient occlusion, edges etc, the lighting used to display models in Navisworks often leads to a lack of clarity. The various settings currently don't often help to improve things.

I couldn't agree anymore. The graphic gaming engine is very dated.
It needs a complete rebuild to bring it up to date.
It needs to include model hatches.
Saved view points should have the abality of saving some settings, and add items like shading with edges.
In general the graphics need to enhance communication.

I just installed 2013 and found the ambient occlusion setting. This does improve model display, but is too slow to use (even though the firegl 4800 in my pc supposedly supports ambient occlusion in hardware), and the quality is definitely lacking compared to Revit's implementation. By way of example, windows have ambient occlusion applied to them (even if there's nothing in front on them) and end up looking very dark towards the centre, like they need cleaning! It seems to do a good job in places, shading corners, gaps between high level ducts and ceilings, but then for some big flat surfaces with no obstructions the effect seems inverted, shading towards the middle of the surface rather than the edges that meet other surfaces.

This wish has been reported as granted and already in the software.
