beam to face of wall

How do you get revit to connect a beam to the a face of a wall? I have been pulling my hair out over this. The beam end will "snap" to the top of the wall every time, and when i do get it to adjust the be level, if i do anything to the wall the beam just "snaps" back to the top of the wall again.

Revit ties to snap to analyitical reference points.
you can create new reference plane in elevation for either top or bottom of beam, be sure to give it a name so you can find it and reuse.
you can then set this as placement plane to add your beams, make sure your view depth is set correct, or you can not see beams as you add them.
the beam is still attached to center of wall, but this should not be a big issue, you can change start or end extension to move end of beam in
fine or medium large scale views.
set value to 0 and this will place beam at face of wall.
set value to + distance to bear end of beam on wall.
