Default Duplicate material still makes changes in original - Revit Architecture 2013

When I duplicate a material in the material browser, any changes I make to the duplicate also changes in the original. How do I make a duplicate material that I can edit independently?

This is the process I'm following...
I'm in the Material Browser: In Document Materials: all
Right click on the material and choose duplicate
Click on the copy of the material and choose edit

I've had very nearly the exact same problem. I'm still struggling with the new materials editor. I think I figured it out but I'm not sure. When you duplicate a new material, it changes the name to MaterialName(1), but then the appearance, physical, and thermal aspects are still the same as the original, which I think is why they both change. I appreciate the new depth this offers, but it was a very very frustrating trial and error process to figure the new one out.

What I'm doing is the same for the first 3 steps:

    Open Material Browser
    Right Click Material, duplicate
Click on the copy, and choose edit
Change the name of the new material
Right click, and duplicate the other aspects

I'm guessing this further depth with appearance, physical, and thermal aspects is part/all of the problem with the duplication messing with the original. Of course... I could be completely wrong.

    Good luck

Just figured this out today after messing with it for awhile. Sure would be nice if ALL the material assets duplicated automatically (to match the new material name) when you duplicate a material. But of course that would make too much sense I guess.

Also would be nice if it would ask you to name the new, duplicated material instead of just automatically creating it with a (1) on the end of it.
