    Default AEC (UK) CAD Standards

    Dear All,

Is anyone using or has anyone implemented the AEC (UK) CAD Standard?

I would be interested to hear how this works for you.

    Hey, Mungo....

My suggestion would be to get in touch with Paul Oakley (Chairman of AUGIuk).

I believe he works on the AEC (UK) committee, developing the standards you mention.

    His email address is paul@oakley-cad.co.uk.

Please mention that Shaun Bryant from the AUGI Board of Directors passed on his details to you.

Many thanks for being an AUGI member and using the forums!!

    SB

not to be picky, but it's generally poor netiquette to post somebody else's email address in a public forum. That's pretty much a guarantee that the addy will be harvested and used by spambots. at least, obfuscate it so it human readable but not machine readable.

So that why my SPAMs gone through the roof...

Just for the record I have no connection with AEC (UK) which is led by Nigel Davis of Evolve.

I have however represented the Autodesk community at various BS committees and CPIC groups working on the BS1192 Framework.

    Regards

    Paul Oakley

    Hi Mungo,
I looked at this in detail early last year as part of my reseach into designing and implementing a CAD standard at the company I was working for. It's very well structured, logical to use, and good for dedicated/experienced CAD users, but it was/is too detailed for our needs as a small architectural/structural company, especially as most of the architects and engineers that worked on AutoCAD there didn't have enough experience or ability (or discipline) to use it properly. I think it's good for cross-company coordination, and useful for large multi-party projects, but impractical for small to medium sized companies like ourselves, particularly as the majority of our projects involved working with foreign companies and partners. I won't post it again here, but there's a link to the standard we used finally over on Luke's post about new company CAD standards, if it's any help to you.
