I'm no expert on CADMEP but can't you import to Revit as a STL, and then Export from Revit as a ACAD?
Hi thank you for answering. No I cannot export as a STL the Cad mep blocks even after an explosion ;; (

Err,yes you can.
yes I did already this command but without succes..
It stays the message "select solids or watertight meshes". I have another problem with these cadmep plans I need the viewer for AMEP 2013 if it exists ?
PM the moderator, or email the factory, at Autodesk Labs. It should work, and any 2013 update should be available by now at SP1 update.
This thread is bouncing around a lot. I need to clarify some things first....
1. In my first post, when I said CAD-Mep I was referring to TSI CAD-Mech. I got a little confused as I thought the original poster was talking about TSI CAD-Mech. These two products are severely incompatible in my experiences.
2. Why was Revit ever brought into this topic? And I tried exporting AEC Objects as a STL file and it wouldn't let me, so I had to convert everything to solids using the CONVERTTO3DSOLIDS command. I was then able to export as a STL file but Revit MEP 2012 wouldn't allow me to open/import/link a STL file at all.
3. Back to the original poster's question. I think the O.P. has vanilla AutoCAD and has received an AutoCAD MEP file. I would like clarification that my assumption is correct. I have vanilla AutoCAD, and was able to export regular solids as a STL file. I opened a native AutoCAD MEP file with AEC Objects and could not export as a STL file at all.
So, now the question is this... are you wanting 2D linework, or 3D solids to work with? If you can get a hold of the original designers and ask them to use the Export to AutoCAD tool in AutoCAD MEP, you can have your wish. Using this tool in Plan View creates "flattened" 2D linework of the AEC Objects. Using this tool in a rotated 3D View/Isometric View, then it exports as 3D Solids. Best bet in my opinion. There may be another workaround but I wouldn't know.
Hope this helps.![]()
Hi all
To answer to stykface: I have AMEP and Revit Mep installed but I receive from hvac contractors CAD-MEP blocks (from MAP Softwares). I can see them because I already installed a Map Object Viewer but I cannot exploite them (no section possible, no conversion to dwg blocks possible and no explode) .
