Default Revit Mystery: Case of Unexpected Results

I have some valve families which we use extensivly on our projects. Some of these valves can be changed from one size to another without problem. Others give the error message: "Changing the family for a MEP fitting might cause unexpected results."

Why would one work and the other not? Please see a 2 minute video at: http://www.screenr.com/Nv68 which further illistrates the problem.

Have you tried clicking on the Expand>> in the window that displays the message: "Changing the family for a MEP fitting might cause unexpected results."

I suspect it is referring to the fittings the valve is connecting to... not the valve itself.

I'm having this same error. Does anyone know of a fix? Clicking expand in the window is not helpful like most Revit errors.

This mystery was solved for us. For our valve families, with two connectors, the solution was to re-assign which connector was primary.

Hope this works for you as well!
