Default Layer Toolbar not showing all the layers

Hello, I seen a few previous posts on this but they didn't help with this issue.

I'm using 2012. I have a drawing that came from a contractor and there are 26 layers total. In the layer toolbar pulldown, only the current layer is shown. If an item is selected, then only that layer and the current layer are displayed. If the Layer Property Manager is in autohide, it will show no layers at all. That will say "Unreconciled New Layers: 0 layers displayed of 26 total layers" at the bottom. When I type the LAYER command, all 26 layers will display. Once they all display in the LPM, they will still not show in the layer toolbar.

The older posts suggest PICKFIRST = 1 which is the setting. Any other thoughts or suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Paul

do any of the layer names use _anything_ other than letters, number, hyphens, or underscores?

Nope, all layers are letters, number, hyphens, & underscores. When I opened the drawing up this morning, the LPM in autohide now displayed all 26 layers unlike the screenshot shown above without typing in the command. All I did was retart the computer. The problem still exists with the pulldown menu though.

Have you ran the AUDIT command and/or used RECOVER to open the drawing?

I forgot all about AUDIT. It's been awhile since I had to used it. Thanks.

OK, AUDIT kind of worked. I ran this on the users machine and it fixed 2 errors. The toolbar showed properly. All looked good. I went to my machine (open read only) and all was the same problem stated above. When the other user had saved and re-opened the drawing, it was the same problem again. Ran AUDIT and zero erros fixed and did not work. Tried the RECOVER and that is not working as well.

To add a little extra info I didn't mention before, we are using a product of file management similar to VAULT where each person is the owner of their own drawing. We can open read only everybody elses drawing, if that may shed extra light on the subject.

    Thanks
