Default How to SNAP to point on SPHERE for move/3D MOVE?

Hi, if I make a SPHERE how can I snap to a point on it to use as the basepoint for a MOVE operation, and then snap to a destination point elsewhere? For example, I create a SPHERE and then want to snap the bottom of it (the lowest point in the Z axis) to the centre-point of a circle at the top of a LOFTed solid? Thanks, Rick

    Hi, welcome to AUGI.

The only object snaps available on a sphere are CENter and QUAdrant.
Quadrant is likely to work in this situation.

You can't snap to a random point - you need to use geometric constructions.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply and welcome.

I must be doing something wrong here - I deselected all the OSNAPS except Center and Quadrant and turned-off 3D Object Snaps, but the only point that I can snap to on the sphere when doing a MOVE operation is the center snap. If I turn-off Center snap setting I can't snap with the Quadrant one. Same result if I try using 3D Move.

If the Center snap is on and I pick the sphere's center then I can hover and then use the extension down the Z axis as my snap from point but how I'm doing it is inexact.

    Any other suggestions are appreciated.

    Cheers, Rick

    Hmm. I thought QUA worked.
So, type in the number - you know that the sphere's radius is fifty.
Draw a line from the CEN of the sphere vertically down @ 50 then a line from there to the centre of the end of the cylinder.
Move the sphere from one end to the other end of the last line.
