Go to File Options right under your home tab. Select Constrained under both Near and Far Clipping Planes. For near, make it 1, for far make it something like 500000.

    See if that helps..
Give a man AutoCad, and he'll draw you a floor plan.
Give a man Revit and he'll build you a house.
Give Cadmama a couple of drinks and she'll have everyone singing Rockytop!

It seems that the clipping plane issue was somehow connected to the parent dwg files. Your suggestion didn't clear up the issue but nothing else fixed it at the time either. Now with the default settings active the problem has gone away. Go figure. Thanks for the suggestion.

Keep that one in mind.. Clipping Planes are like ex-wives, they'll always find a way to haunt you when you least expect it..

I've been haunted by clipping plane problems when someone imports a file with imperial defaults when I've carefully set everything up in metric at the start. i.e. my file readers are all set to import in metres by default. It also sometimes affects the speed of my happy feet and gives bad aliasing effects in the real time graphics.
