Default Random detail on sheet - can't select it

This one is weird. I had to get into an old project that has been resurrected and update it. No problem there.

I found a detail sheet with a detail off to the side and I cannot select it, can't figure out where it came from, can't do anything with it. It does not plot so it is really not a problem just bothers me.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Is it possibly remnants of a linked CAD file on one of the other details on the sheet?

Then why can't I select it? I will have to try to remember to check all the details on that sheet tomorrow when I get back to the office.

Odds are you are selecting it, however right-click and hit activate view. I've had something like this happen once to me that for some reason it was inside a view on the sheet.
Plan B, uncheck "Exclude Options" in the lower right corner of your Revit screen on the outside CHANCE it was placed in a design option.

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
Nope - tried the right click thing - nothing. no options - it was a seperate drafting view.
Finally opened all the roof details and found what it called. I then went to the browser and removed that view from the sheet.

Mystery not solved but the offending element has been removed.

I wonder what would have happened had you re-inserted that Drafting View onto the Sheet while it was still on there...

It is possible that the view was 'hidden' on the sheet. I've seen this happen before - to solve it, I click on the lightbulb to reveal hidden elements...and the view title pops up and I can select it... (and delete it as needed)

DING DING DING - And the winner is ........... hworrell!!!!

I went back to the old project and turned on the lightbulb. There was the offending view elements. Why the flying flip anyone would...... Nevermind, I would be worn out if I had to figure out the "why" of some of the things I have seen. I just have to figure out how to fix it. Deleting the drafting view did that for me but now I know at least the "how" it was there.

That's an awesome piece of info and I've already sprung into action using that to my advantage! Mwa, ha, ha! We have separate Views for Room Tags on Demolition Sheets, which are overlaid on top of the Plan View. The trouble it that users keep 'Activating' the Room Tag View (in lieu of the Plan View), get confused, and end up changing Visibility settings and such in an effort to figure out what's goin' on. Now, with that Room Tag View hidden on the Sheet, it is unselectable but still displays! And the Room Tags still print.

Thanks, hworrell! You learn somethin' new every day.

And I still have a chance to put this in my tips and tricks class handout for Autodesk University! Do I have permission to combine these ideas and give you both credit???
