Default Working with architects "workshare" file

Does anyone have any suggestions for working with an architects Revit file when they've turned on worksharing?

Since I'm not on their server, Revit can't ask for "permission" to edit much and makes it difficult to work with the model. Any suggestions? (When I'm doing acoustics on a project, I'd like a way to manipulate the architects model directly, instead of bringing it into a blank template if possible)

    Thanks,

You can create your own copy by opening the file using the 'detach from central' option available in the file open dialogue. This will remove any ownership restrictions on the file and allow you to work freely.

Which software do you use for acoustic design?

Thanks Dimitri, didn't notice that option before.

ThinkRevit, we use several programs depending on what we're doing. We use a lot of custom built Excel sheets that pull from our data bases we've built up over the years, and sometimes we'll use EASE and/or CATT for 3D models for indoor room acoustics. Couple other programs I can't think of right now.
