That's what I thought too, but it involved placement of some existing ceilings that will be demolished in the new construction phase anyway, so I've sidestepped the issue & just placed the new ceilings. That process went a little better, though not quire so automatic as it should. No need to explore it further.
Im having the same problem. Its Not because of links, room shapes, wall heights, etc...Its just that revit automatic ceiling can´t recognize structural elements as room bounding. I Havent being able to find a solution for it.
Revit has zero issue recognizing structural walls as room bounding as long as the "room bounding" check box in properties is checked. I just tested this and it works for both walls made using structural walls to begin with and with architectural walls that have been switched to structural.
If you are talking about other structural elements that are not walls like some sort of large column or pier then yes as those are not typically room bounding items and you would use room separation lines to bound their shape.
Are the structural elements in your model or a separate model? If a separate model, does that link instance have "room bounding" checked in its properties?
